Liberty Engineering was founded in 1995 by Jan M. Harris, PE, a graduate of Cornell University and Old Dominion University and a United States Army veteran. Jan brings over 32 years of experience to the job, and leads our team of three structural engineers and two technicians.

The staff of Liberty Engineering is constantly improving, actively participating in local and national professional engineering societies, corresponding with design and construction professionals worldwide, and pursuing appropriate professional development opportunities. Our engineers are active members of the American Society of Civil Engineers, and National Society of Professional Engineers, the Engineers Club of Hampton Roads, The American Institute of Steel Construction, and the American Concrete Institute.

Liberty Engineering’s modern, fully equipped office in the Pembroke Area of Virginia Beach is equipped with state of the art computers, design equipment, and software. The firm utilizes the latest versions of IES Visual Analysis, Revit Structural Suite, and AutoCAD to perform structural analysis and computer-aided drawing.
